What should I bring?

  1.  The food your kitty eats at home.  Familiar food will work best to keep your kitty feeling good while here.  You do not need to bring any dishes.

  2. A small bed or blanket.  Beds and blankets are provided here, but you may want to bring a familiar item from your home.  Our condos provide platforms with bedding and a place for nesting.

  3. Feel free to send along your cat’s favorite toy or treat if desired!  There are plenty of toys and other stimulation here at The Cat’s Pajamas, but please be aware that it may secretly “disappear” with other curious kitties.  The safe return of any toy(s) cannot be guaranteed.

  4. It is necessary to securely transport your cat to and from the facility in a carrier during dropoff and pickup.  You may leave it here at dropoff and it will be ready for you at pickup.  Please put your cat’s name on the carrier.

  5. Proof of current rabies and distemper vaccinations. This is absolutely essential; your cat cannot board without this information. Be sure that these records are up-to-date. Proof of vaccinations can be submitted by hardcopy and dropped off or emailed to: cats.pajamas.mi@gmail.com.

What if my cat hasn’t been around other cats?

Many cat owners are unsure of how their cat will respond in a space with other cats. It is our job to know what to do — how to acclimate your cat to its surroundings and when to meet new friends.

What if my cat doesn’t like other cats?

Cats are territorial and most negative reactions occur because a cat has considered his space being invaded by another cat.

The Cat’s Pajamas offers a neutral environment in which territorial conflicts are minimal to none.

How much time will my cat spend outside of his condo?

Cats that are comfortable will have their door left open for the day. Getting adjusted and feeling confident may need a little help and encouragement. One on one, personal time is provided to assist those cats in feeling comfortable in their new surroundings.

Will my cat make new friends?

While it is not unusual for cats to play with new cats from other families, it is more typical for them to explore and play on their own.

Usually kitties and young cats enjoy running and playing together. They offer visual stimulation to other cats and sometimes get the quieter cats involved in play.

What if my cat just doesn’t like boarding?

In the majority of cases, everything feasibly possible will be done to be sure that your cat has the best possible experience while boarding.

One on one time is given with ample time and attention. Cats may choose to snuggle up in a comfy bed, be stimulated by electric toys, gaze out the window or at the fish, or watch birds and squirrels on TV.

Be assured that every cat’s needs and personality are accommodated throughout their stay.

My cat doesn’t like riding in the car. What if my cat is scared or aggressive when he/she arrives?

Many cats associate car rides with “unpleasant” experiences, such as a trip to the veterinarian’s office. When your cat arrives for boarding, our patience and understanding help to make the transition as smooth and pleasant as possible. We give your kitty time to adjust, followed by calm and positive interactions. Your cat can eventually learn to associate car trips with positive experiences!
